Make Business Estimates More Reliable

A decision-ready result keeps its definition, source, date and scope visible.

Keep period and currency consistent

Do not divide a monthly cost by annual revenue or mix currencies without a dated conversion rule. Align the numerator and denominator to the same reporting period and scope.

Reconcile inputs to source reports

Record whether revenue is gross or net and whether costs include returns, discounts, taxes, shipping, payroll, overhead and non-cash items. Reconcile important outputs to accounting, platform and analytics reports.

Model every changing fee

Marketplace, advertising, payment and carrier schedules change by plan, category, region, service and date. Include fixed charges, percentage fees, surcharges, refunds, chargebacks and currency conversion where relevant.

Separate estimates from statements and promises

EBITDA, valuation and customer-value models depend on definitions and assumptions. Shipping-time math is not a carrier guarantee, and no calculator replaces financial statements, contracts, tax rules or consumer-law obligations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick guidance for interpreting profit, marketing and ecommerce estimates.

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin measures profit relative to selling price or revenue, while markup measures profit relative to cost. The same transaction therefore produces different percentages under the two formulas.

Is a calculator result the same as an accounting statement?

No. A calculator applies a simplified formula to entered values. Formal statements depend on the entity's accounting framework, classifications, cut-off, adjustments, controls and supporting records.

What is the difference between ROI and ROAS?

ROI compares net gain with a defined investment base. ROAS normally compares attributed conversion value with advertising spend. ROAS does not by itself include product cost, overhead, returns or every business expense.

Why can the marketplace payout differ from the estimate?

Actual payout can include category and plan rules, taxes, fulfilment, storage, advertising, shipping, currency conversion, reserves, refunds, disputes, chargebacks and fee changes that were not entered.

Can a shipping-time calculator promise a delivery date?

No. It estimates from dispatch, transit and calendar assumptions. Inventory, handling, cut-off times, weekends, holidays, weather, customs, address issues and carrier exceptions can change delivery.

Is EBITDA the same as profit under an accounting standard?

Not necessarily. EBITDA is commonly treated as a supplemental non-GAAP measure, and adjusted versions may use different exclusions. Keep the definition and reconciliation beside any comparison.
