Decimal Pounds, Pounds and Ounces, and Stone

The converter first finds one exact rational pound value. It then rounds total ounces to the selected increment: 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 ounce. The pounds-and-ounces and stone displays come from the same rounded tick count, so they remain consistent near a carry boundary.
For example, if the ounce remainder rounds to 16 oz, the result carries to the next whole pound. If a stone remainder reaches 14 lb after the same carry, it advances to the next stone. The page will not leave an invalid compound result such as 4 lb 16 oz or 8 st 14 lb.
A compound display is labelled exact only when the pound value lands on the chosen ounce increment. Otherwise it is a practical rounded form. The main decimal result uses its own precision setting and does not inherit the ounce rounding.
Exact Kilogram and Pound Definitions
The kilogram is the SI base unit of mass. Since 20 May 2019, its definition fixes the numerical value of the Planck constant rather than assigning one kilogram to a metal artifact. Metric relationships such as 1 kg = 1000 g are exact.
