A fixed UTC offset can miss daylight-saving and historical rule changes. Prefer a location-based IANA zone such as Asia/Kolkata or America/New_York and enter the date being converted.

Identify what “distance” means

Great-circle distance is the shortest surface path between two points. Road, rail, walking and flown routes can be longer because of networks, borders, airways, restrictions and detours.

Why can a time-zone conversion be wrong?

A conversion can be wrong when it uses a fixed UTC offset, ambiguous abbreviation, outdated rule or no date. Use exact named locations and a current IANA time-zone database because daylight-saving and civil-time rules can change.

What is the difference between straight-line and route distance?

Straight-line or great-circle distance follows the shortest surface path between two points. A road, walking, rail or flown route follows a network or operational path and can be longer.

Does a flight-time calculator predict my actual arrival?

No. It creates a scenario from distance, assumed speed and allowances. The operating route, wind, taxiing, weather, connections, air traffic and airline schedule determine the actual journey.

Does a trip fuel-cost result include tolls, traffic and detours?

Only when those effects are represented in the inputs. Fuel cost depends on route distance, actual efficiency and price; tolls, parking, congestion, weather, load and detours may need separate entries or allowances.
