Worked Weeks Between Dates Example

Use January 1, 2026 as the start date and July 25, 2026 as the end date. Keep the standard rule, which excludes the start and includes the end.

Do not read a rounded decimal as an exact day count. For example, 2.29 weeks multiplied by 7 equals 16.03 days because the displayed week value was rounded. Use the complete weeks and remainder or the original counted-day value when you must reconstruct an exact date range.

Inclusive and Exclusive Week Counting

The standard elapsed method excludes the starting boundary. January 1 to January 8 is seven elapsed days, or exactly one week. An inclusive list that counts both January 1 and January 8 contains eight calendar dates, or one week and one day when expressed as counted dates.

How Leap Years Affect Weeks Between Dates

The U.S. Naval Observatory Gregorian rule treats years divisible by four as leap years, except century years must also be divisible by 400. The year 2000 was a leap year. The years 1900 and 2100 are not. The year 2400 will be a leap year.
